Choquequirao Trek 5 Days
The environment along the circuit is impressive for the presence of an abundant variety of flora, fauna and the adaptation they have during the year due to temperature variations. As for the fauna we can find mainly condors, vizcachas (rabbit like rodents), foxes, a variety of birds and hummingbirds. The flora includes ferns, ichu (tipical grasslands) and a great variety of orchids, as well as an incomparable geography that presents high mountains, snow-capped mountains, innumerable rivers, canyons, waterfalls, valleys, a variety of ecological floors, and much more…

CHOQUEQUIRAO TREK, in the morning at 5:30 am we will leave Cusco very early to the pass of Curahuasi which is located at 3,600 m.a.s.l. (trip duration approx. 3 hours). Then we will continue to the town of Cachora where our muleteers will be waiting for us for the hike of 5 hours approx. Before starting our walk we will enjoy our lunch, then we will begin the journey to appreciate the flora and fauna, until we reach the viewpoint of Capuliyoc from where we will observe the great canyon of Apurimac, then continue down the road until we reach the first camp where we will spend the night, the place known as Chikiska, in front of a wild and mystical snowy mountain of Padreyoc. From this place we can see a beautiful snow-capped mountain and enjoy our dinner, then we will rest.
After breakfast we will begin to descend to the Apurimac River, this descent lasts 2:00 hours approx. to reach the deepest part of the canyon of the same name, we will observe impressive geographic panoramas of mountains, snowy and dry semi-tropical valley. Then we will cross the bridge to start ascending for 2 hours approx. to reach “Santa Rosa”. There we will be able to appreciate the preparation of the “cañazo” (a typical and natural drink) in an artisan way. To finish the day, our second camp will be in an area with a special climate, in a place called Marampata.
We will have an energetic breakfast to overcome the great challenge of the day, then we will continue with the ascent of 2 to 3 hours approx. to Sunchupata being able to appreciate the great treasure in front of us “Choquequirao”, at sight we will have a wonderful spectacle that will justify coming here. We will visit this enigmatic place full of energy and culture, we will appreciate the squares, the sacred fountains, the towers, the agricultural and urban sector, and from the terrace we will observe the domains of the Inca. We will camp in Choquequirao. With luck we will see the overflight of the Condors. Then we will return to our camp in Marampata where we will spend the night.
After breakfast, this day will be a rest day where we can rest until later and then we will be back with descent for 5 hours approx. by the same way of going, until we arrive to Chikiska camp where one can have a relaxing bath, in this place we will spend the last night of camp and we will have a farewell of our trek.
Early in the morning at 4:00 am we will have our breakfast to start the ascent for 4 hours approx. with a fantastic environment that shows its beauty along the entire route passing by Capuliyoc (viewpoint) from this point the route will be flat to walk until you reach the town of Cachora where our lunch will be waiting for us, then board our bus to Cusco to arrive at your hotel at 5:00 pm.
