*VERY IMPORTANT Although Inka Trail Expeditions rules state that reservations must be made five days in advance, we recommend that you make your reservation well in advance, the average peak indicates that 90 days before departure there is no space, because they only allow 500 people per day to pass through to avoid erosion and contamination of the road network and the Machu Picchu Sanctuary.
Our journey to the citadel of Machupicchu begins early in the morning, with the pick up at your hotel in Cusco to transfer us by car to Ollantaytambo, upon arrival we will board the train to Machupicchu, we will descend from the train at the height of km 104 where we begin our hike. From the archaeological site of “Chanchabamba” (2250 masl) we climb for about 2 hours and a half to the fascinating archaeological site of Wiñaywayna (2650 masl) where we enjoy a picnic. In the afternoon we follow the semi-tropical forest to the “Intipunku” (the Sun Gate) from where we can enjoy the first panoramic view of the majestic Machu Picchu. From here we descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can optionally visit the thermal baths and spend the night comfortably in a hostel or hotel depending on availability.
After breakfast, we take the first bus to Machu Picchu to enjoy the sunrise in this magical place before the arrival of other tourists. Enjoy the tranquility of the lost city of the Incas on a guided tour with some free time. In the afternoon return to Ollantaytambo by train, at the train station we will take the bus to return to Cusco.
